Senior Citizen Population Will Grow Faster in All States by 2030

The U.S. Census Bureau released projections on the U.S. population by state for the year 2030 and the headlines were about which states are to grow the fastest. The real story, however, is the picture of the growth in senior citizens. Beginning in 2011, the population 65 and older will grow faster than the total population in every single state. How will these seniors be prepared for their future? How can Securus help? How can you help?

Three states — Florida, California and Texas — would account for nearly one-half (46 percent) of total U.S. population growth between 2000 and 2030, according to the projections released today. Consequently, Florida, now the fourth most populous state, would edge past New York into third place in total population by 2011; California and Texas would continue to rank first and second, respectively, in 2030.

Highlights of the senior population boom in the report:
    >  In 2000, each of the nation’s 50 states had more people under 18 than 65 and older. In fact, in about half of the states, the ratio was more than two to one. In 2030, 10 states are projected to have more people 65 and older than under 18: Florida, Delaware, Maine, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
    >  In six states, more than one in every four residents would be age 65 and older in 2030: Florida, Wyoming, Maine, New Mexico, Montana and North Dakota.
    >  As the oldest baby boomers become senior citizens in 2011, the population 65 and older is projected to grow faster than the total population in every state. In fact, 26 states are projected to double their 65- and-older population between 2000 and 2030.

Are Insurance Agents using Facebook?

Insurance agents from various companies have been using and testing Facebook for over a year now. How have they performed? And why ue this medium?

Most progressive Insurance marketing agencies now understand the most effective ways to engage their audience on Facebook, provide pertinent information for their agents and provide training throughout their organization. Here are some findings from State Farm:
  • Facebook is not the place for direct sales tactics
  • Engage your current clients through Facebook through regular updates of info that would be genuinely useful
  • Be an expert resource: post helpful tips and answering user questions (even if they’re not your client)
  • Be available: continue to monitor and update your Facebook Page’s feed regularly (can’t just “set it and forget it”)
One great example mentioned in the article had to do with the increased amount of activity due to the recent snow storms in the Eastern US.  Many of the people affected by those storms had issues they’d never had to deal with before.  Local State Farm agents posted info on Facebook about ways to minimize damage and protect homes against an unusually high amount of snow and ice.  Some agents even received phone calls from people that weren’t even their clients (yet), proving that providing helpful info can position a company as the expert;  more available and useful than their current providers.

Securus Final Expense is looking to use Facebook and social media for updating their agents. Become part of the future at Securus Final Expense.

Corporate B2B Sites are Important for Lead Generation

According to a recent study by Demandbase, while word of mouth (WOM) marketing is still one of the strongest marketing connections out there, having a good B2B Lead Gen website is just as important, and how these two strategies work together is vital. A strong corporate site can offer many opportunities and open the door for new leads. In the insurance business, leads are everything and how they are obtained, distributed are important. Career as an Insurance Sales Agent

There are many interesting facets of becoming an insurance salesperson. Not only does it provide a quality of life career, it is a lucrative career for those energetic souls willing to work independently. There are many types of insurance, but final expense insurance, specifically designed for the elderly, has become increasingly popular.
Sign up for our webinar NOW!

 The United States Department of Labor (DOL) states that;
  • Besides offering insurance policies, agents increasingly sell mutual funds, annuities, and securities and offer comprehensive financial planning services, including retirement and estate planning services, some designed specifically for the elderly.
  • Agents must obtain a license in the States where they sell.
  • Job opportunities should be best for college graduates who have sales ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and expertise in a wide range of insurance and financial services.

The nature of the business is that most people have their first contact with an insurance company through an insurance sales agent. These workers help individuals, families, and businesses select insurance policies that provide the best protection for their lives, health, and property.
Insurance sales agents, commonly referred to as “producers” in the insurance industry, sell one or more types of insurance, such as property and casualty, life, health, disability, and long-term care.

Technology is increasingly becoming an important tool for the sales agent—specifically, the Internet—has greatly affected the insurance business, making the tasks of obtaining information and applications is faster and easier. The Internet has made it easier for agents to take on more clients and to be better informed about new products and help generate new leads. Now, clients are increasingly obtaining information from a company's Web site and then contacting the producer directly to purchase policies.

Job outlook
According to the DOL Employment is expected to grow for all occupations. Opportunities will be best for college graduates who have sales ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and expertise in a wide range of insurance and financial services. Employment of insurance sales agents is expected to increase by 12 percent over the 2008–18 period, which is about as fast as average for all occupations. Future demand for insurance sales agents depends largely on the variety of financial products and volume of sales. Sales of health insurance, long-term-care insurance, and other comprehensive financial planning services designed specifically for the elderly are expected to rise sharply as the population ages.

If you interested in a new career or boosting the one you currently have in sales, then join us this Friday to learn about the Securus Sales Opportunity. Sign up for our webinar NOW! It is this Friday - September 2nd.

Top 10 things you should look for from your final expense lead generation company

How are your leads performing for you? Have you compared the quality, quantity and your revenue? Not all final expense insurance marketing companies are the same and you should ask these questions to your company?

  1. Who provides the lead generation process from start to finish?
  2. Who places the lead order for you?
  3. Are they providing leads or excuse?
  4. Sales drive our revenue not our leads
  5. Who is profiting on the sale of a lead? The company and then you?
  6. Are the leads exclusive?
  7. Are the leads provided at a fixed cost?
  8. Can you access your leads from anywhere, anytime, online?
  9. Protected territories.
  10. Will they let you print an actual copy of the lead filled out in the prospect's own handwriting to take with you when you visit?
If you're getting "No" to a few of these questions, then you should check out Securus final expense for a different type of company. Securus says "Yes" to all of these questions and gives you even more.

Final Expense Insurance can Provide you Peace of Mind

Final expense insurance is a unique form of insurance for seniors, but can sometimes be understated in its power of security. Understanding all the benefits, such as, knowing that when they have passed away, their memorial and funeral costs will all be taken care of. And that this type of insurance may also be used to aid in any medical expenses or other financial obligations, are all compelling reasons to have this type of insurance.

There are a variety of advantages to acquiring this sort of insurance. Remind your clients to "Imagine the peace of mind it will provide you and your loved ones knowing that your final expenses will all be taken care of. Since this will undoubtedly be an incredibly difficult period to deal with, the security in knowing that these expenses will be one less item for your loved ones to worry about is a relief.

Here are some other reasons that Final expense life coverage is a valuable investment. One advantage to your final expense insurance is that a percentage may also be used as a way to provide a charitable gift to someone or perhaps there’s a special charity you have always liked. You will be able to use part of your insurance to donate to this organization.

People will be happy to know that final expense coverage could also be used to leave funds behind for your grandchildren or other family members. Another great use of final expense insurance is to help begin a education fund for your grandchildren, this would be a great way to ensure they are going to have a bright future ahead of them!

Agents can feel good about Final Expense Products

It's hard enough to lose a loved one: A parent, brother or sister. It is even more difficult when loved ones are left to pay expenses associated with a funeral because of the lack of planning. Social Security pays only $255 for the expenses associated with a funeral. (The average funeral expenses $7,323.00 which is up 45% from 2001.)
As of today, the average funeral is now in excess of $8,000.00! These expenses do not even include plots, markers or flowers. Any unpaid funeral costs and balances are usually paid by the surviving spouse or children. Even worse, if a major illness were to present itself or a nursing home were to become involved, a family's savings could be wiped out in minutes. This could leave a surviving spouse or children with a huge financial burden. With proper Final Expense planning, we can protect families for pennies on the dollar.

Agents wondering if what your doing is helping others, look no further. Not only are you supporting your family, your supporting other families and easing the burden.

Americans Living with Disabilities and Technology

Our aging population, which is currently estimated at 20,000 a day turning 65, is an astounding statistic. This population is quickly becoming the majority and will be seeking to provide comfort and insurance for their families.

The elderly population also has disabilities that can interfere with their day to day activities, however only 2% of American adults say they have a disability or illness that makes it harder or impossible for them to use the internet. This provides a great outlet for those who cant take advantage of what others take for granted. Most of those who have the added insurance and ability to work from home can at least turn to the web for a source of income.

Seniors Online - why is grandma "friending" me?

The web has been in full swing now for 15 years. The thing nobody understood at first and thought was a fad, now is the focal point of our lives, for a majority of us. It is where we look for advice, news and recommendations. That means it is now where we go to decide on purchasing - or at least a huge influencer. They find information on insurance, final expense, health related items and financial planning.

But now I see my grandparents getting totally involved in the web, social networking and communicating online. It makes sense. They have the time to do it and its not so intimidating as it once was.

The Pew Internet organization has released data regarding seniors and technology usage. You would be surprised at how your mom, dad and grandparents are using the internet and mobile devices. I expect these numbers to grow exponentially as well as there are 20,000 people turning 65 every day in the US alone.

The Pew Internet data shows that:

  • Cell phones are by far the most popular device among American adults. Some 85% of adults own cell phones, and 90% of all adults—including 62% of those age 75 and older—live in a household with at least one working cell phone.
  • Desktop computers are most popular with adults ages 35-65, and Millennials are the only generation that is more likely to own a laptop computer or netbook than a desktop: 70% own a laptop, compared with 57% who own a desktop.
Facebook says the fastest growing population right now is women over 55. So I would expect all of you to get a special invite soon :)

Online Selling Tips for Final Expense Insurance

Selling life insurance is a solid business model and has been a stable marketplace through many economic situations, and final expense insurance is a good way to start. Insurance agents often overlook this aspect of selling insurance. While it allows you to be nimble and lucrative, it gives you a foot in the door. If you are already selling final expense insurance, there are several ways to enhance your selling techniques with online strategies. If you are interested in staying in front of your competition, see a few steps below to keep you internet savvy.

  • Create a personal website.

    If your current agency doesn't offer you one, then you should have your own professional website. Some agencies offer leads online, as well as web space for your own personal website (a page or two). Take advantage of this if you can. They have already developed a lot of the ground work by;
    • Setting up the domain name
    • Building out the brand website and infrastructure
    • Optimized the site for SEO
    • Built the online tools for you to use

  • Use a lead producing agency. These companies work to get people to submit their information on a website and through direct mail. The leads that are qualified will have provided interest in obtaining life insurance. Qualified leads are one of the most critical pieces and the web has really been able to segment and identify quality leads. As a reference Securus offers all these services at www.securusfinalexpense.com

  • Join an existing agency that provides the online support as well as offline. The marketing infrastructure that these agencies have set up should be strong in both
online marketing as well as quality leads. Look to see what ones offer the leads, training, an online presence, and support for your business.

Happy selling and get creative online!

What it Takes to Succeed in Final Expense Sales

When I started my career in the life insurance industry in 1984, I attended a two week training program at Metropolitan Life called “Career Success School”.  Even way back then as a neophyte, I knew that what was being presented wasn’t enough information to lead to a successful career.  The funny thing is that successful selling is not rocket science. Anyone who is determined to do so can follow and master a system that will guarantee their success.  Through the years, I have developed sales systems that have afforded individuals on my team to earn incomes that are well into six figures.  I’ve spent the past three years engineering a program for Final Expense sales, and it is simply the best of its kind in the insurance industry.  In this post, I will outline the components and summarize everything you’ll need in order to succeed.

First and foremost, do you have what it takes to follow a system on your own?  In Final Expense sales, you are your own boss.  Are you willing to make the extra phone call, knock on the extra door, stay focused and put in the little bit of effort that makes the difference between good and great WHEN THE ONLY PERSON YOU HAVE TO ANSWER TO IS LOOKING AT YOU IN THE MIRROR?  Only you can answer this question, and you need to do so honestly.  Your state of mind, what’s between your ears, will determine your ability to succeed more than any program or system.  You have to be ready for success!
If you’re ready for success, then here are the building blocks that will make it happen.  Our system:
  1. Starts with a track for you to run on.  The weekly schedule is set up to put you in a rhythm that you can follow to guarantee your success.  While you are training, “ride alongs” are available for you to spend a few days with a successful agent to live the system before you get started.
  2. You need qualified prospects to visit.  Our system provides the highest quality, most cost-effective leads possible.  We utilize state-of-the-art lead generation methodology to obtain direct mail leads from qualified prospects that are waiting for you to call or visit. Freshly generated leads are distributed to you via the internet, and you get a text message on your cell phone to let you know that they’re ready to retrieve.
  3. If everyone just said “Yes”, sales wouldn’t be the high paying profession that it is!  Selling is a ‘numbers game’, and you must put the numbers in your favor.  Our system teaches you how to overcome objections and, in doing so, increase your number of presentations and your closing ratios on the presentations you make.
  4. On demand training. Weekly webinars, online training modules, a video training library, a comprehensive agent manual and more are available to help you become a master sales professional.
  5. You need a selection of competitively positioned products in your briefcase to offer your client.  Our system places you with the best carriers in the industry.
You can choose to join a team that will do everything in its power to help you achieve the success you dream of.  At the end of the day, though, it’s up to you to make it happen.  GOOD SELLING!

Apply today.

YouTube ready to start renting video on-demand movies from major studios?

Why does this matter to us? Because whoever owns the content owns the rights to distribute. And the right to distribute will provide vital competition that is long overdue.
What took YouTube so long? Money. This is an expensive venture, but certainly Google has the money, so let's see it in action.
