Last week we learned about the importance of setting GREAT EXPECTATIONS for your own future. We also learned the importance of planting the seeds that will grow into the harvest of your success.
This week I want to talk about the nine ACTIONS that will help make your harvest bloom.
However, the first one is SO IMPORTANT that it gets its very own blog post!
The first and most important action you must recognize as key to your success is WORK.
WORK – There is no getting around performing the work involved in any career. This is true in the world of Final Expense Insurance – or anywhere. There is no point in looking for short cuts to doing the work, because there simply aren't any! Become aware of the numbers it takes to be successful and commit to doing these week in and week out. These numbers are what level the playing field in the world of business.
In fact, this is a huge reason why success isn't something only talented people achieve. These days, it’s almost become commonplace to see mediocre people attain great success because of their DESIRE (burning desire) to focus and DO more work than the more talented people with less desire! Desire can be manifested into Self Discipline by anyone who CHOOSES. And for this person who makes this choice, success isn't a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN!
I do believe that everyone will go through their "Faith Time." Meaning there will be a time period that will require the person to WORK and BELIEVE (this is a tough mental test) without seeing the results. This is what I call "putting your dream to the test." Is your DREAM big enough and important enough to go through this time without you LOSING your belief in the "sowing and reaping" law we talked about last week?
If you have a half-hearted "WISH" to become successful you will NOT make it through this time. You will be faced with many opportunities to blame your lack of success on other people. You will more than likely have a lot of "good opportunities" come up that look SO MUCH EASIER than the FIGHT that it seems you're IN!
While these opportunities are GOOD, they will never be the BEST! They will never be what you were called to do! It's a tragedy to see people SETTLE for good when they were designed for GREAT! I have come to the realization in my career that this is a necessity in preparing the Leader for the responsibility of handling the success in the correct way.
We've all seen success NOT be in the long-term best interest of someone. And this so called “success” ends up being more of a curse because of the self-destruction that occurs. The Leaders at Securus America and on our Executive Team work extremely hard to work with our future leaders and prepare them for this test.
We also work to help our future leaders realize that success doesn't have to mean buying bigger and better things. Sure there is a time and place for all that but our leaders will know that EVERYTHING comes at a PRICE! And I'm not referring to the "sticker price."
So in summary, WORK is something to be embraced. WORK is to be enjoyed! And the foundation of your work puts you in the role of a FARMER, because after all you are planting your fields the same way!
Through hard work, planting seeds and staying strong through your test of faith, you can begin to reap the harvest of success. But this is really only the beginning of your journey!
